As a physician, laboratory studies are critical to decision making. It is extremely helpful to understand the tests that I order and how to obtain them to maximize the information they provide.

3.Describe your typical day.

As a Staff Clinician at the NIH, I am fortunate to be able to combine basic science and laboratory techniques learned during my training with patient evaluations and patient care. 4.What do you like about your job?

It is very exciting to work on bridging the knowledge we acquire through laboratory experimentation with disease process and potential treatments. Contributing, even a small part, to the understanding of disease process provides hope for many patients with neurological disorders of a more functional future and better quality of life.

5.What advice do you have for people who want to do what you do?

The clinical laboratory science training at KU Medical Center provided a strong foundation in science and laboratory medicine that I continue to use to this day. Perseverance and determination will guarantee success.
