Our Location

The Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences is a part of the School of Allied Health on the Medical Center campus of the University of Kansas. KU Medical Center (KUMC) is located in the heart of the Kansas City metropolitan area at 39th and Rainbow Boulevard – about 40 minutes away from the main KU campus in Lawrence, Kansas.

The University of Kansas Hospital, also on site, is the only Level I trauma center on the Kansas side of the metropolitan area. In addition to classes offered on the KUMC campus, some classes in the professional program may be offered at the KU Edwards Campus also located in Kansas City.


Kansas City: A Great Midwestern City

Just a block from the Missouri-Kansas state line, KUMC is near the historic Westport entertainment district and the Country Club Plaza. Known for its Spanish-style architecture and beautiful fountains, the Plaza has many shops, restaurants and theaters. Nearby is the Nelson Art Gallery. Kansas City is also home to the Kansas City Royals and Kansas City Chiefs professional sports franchises and the Kansas Speedway NASCAR race track.

The student center provides assistance to students in finding housing arrangements. Kansas residents who want to maintain their Kansas in-state resident status must live on the Kansas side of the metropolitan area.

How to get to us

The Clinical Laboratory Sciences office is located in Room 1014 at The University of Kansas Hosptial. Enter at the main entrance on Cambridge Street. Take the escalator in the lobby to the first floor, turn right – Room 1014 is about twenty steps from the top of the escalator (across from the Blood Bank) on the left side of the hall. See map below.

KU Medical Center is accessed from the Rainbow Blvd exit on I-35. (2-3 blocks south of exit)
